Pros

Something new could happen any day that would make the day worth it. You'll meet good people that make the day easier to get through. Easy job overall. Good if you're just out of college in a criminal justice realm.

Cons

Hours suck. You're on airport time. Schedule really sucks for new people. Even 3 years in, you won't have seniority for a weekend. A lot of leadership roles but into the position myth where they believe that just because they have the title, it makes them a qualified and respected leader. In reality, they don't and the process for selecting applicants for leadership roles is extremely poor. Pay was not great when I was there. I believe as of lately, they approved better pay. At the end of the day, for the crap you have to put up with, the pay does not equate to what you do. Since you're just a number, you're going to get paid just the same as your other coworkers who are unbearably lazy. The "foot in the door" for the government is somewhat true but not quite. As far as law enforcement agencies go, they don't care about TSA experience (for the most part). I did say good for a college grad but don't stay too long. Always be looking for a new job immediately upon starting.
