Pros
Working and living in Shanghai is rewarding in and of itself but being a part of the Teaching Nomad team was such a blessing. I absolutely loved my experience. My favorite part of the job was speaking to teachers from all over the world. Not only did I learn from them, but I loved to impart my own experience and knowledge to give them the best idea of what life abroad might be like for them. The Shanghai team was pretty close knit and we became great friends. Another perk was the fun team bonding we had at the end of each month which came in the form of happy hour/ dinners, escape rooms, and other team outings. Management is great and always helpful and receptive to your ideas of how to make the company better - whether it be a new blog post, a way to streamline your productivity, or a marketing plan - they'll always hear you out, which is why I always felt valued as an employee. I also really loved having the chance to manage some of our school accounts. It was a nice change from only speaking to teachers and made me feel as though I was a trusted employee. I enjoyed communicating with the schools on how to better our recruitment tactics and even discussing other partnership options outside of our general list of services.
Cons
Due to fluctuation in teacher's start times throughout the year, you do need to be aware of managing your money as Shanghai can be a pretty pricey city to live in.
