Pros

Decent company, benefits, perks, going out to lunches on fridays with people (Which I did not do to often because I stayed to get more work done or catch up on work behind on.

Cons

My Experience at Terracon Consultants Inc. I worked as a Concrete Materials Lab Technician at Terracon Consultants Inc., where I was in charge of the lab, breaking concrete cylinders, assisting in the soils lab, and occasionally working in the field. Unfortunately, my experience with the company was overwhelmingly negative due to significant issues with management, workplace fairness, and overall organization. Wrongful Termination and Retaliation I believe I was wrongfully terminated and retaliated against for raising valid concerns about workplace inefficiencies and unequal standards. Management accused me of being offensive, rude, and threatening—claims that were entirely untrue and unsupported. In reality, my only request was that management hold all employees to the same standards and address underperformance effectively. Workplace Inefficiencies and Double Standards Throughout my time at Terracon, I consistently observed that some employees were allowed to slack off, leaving additional work for others, including myself. I repeatedly asked (over 100 times) for management to: • Raise standards for underperforming employees. • Coach employees who were not meeting expectations or creating extra work for others. • Improve efficiency, organization, and cleanliness in the workplace. Despite my efforts, these requests were ignored. Instead, management told me to “leave it alone” and take on the extra workload myself. This resulted in me working 6–7 days a week, often at all hours, fixing numerous mistakes caused by others. Instead of addressing the root causes, management relied on me to pick up the slack, further enabling the cycle of inefficiency. Threats and Lack of Accountability The work environment at Terracon was not only inefficient but also hostile. I was threatened by another employee, and when I reported the incident to management, they deflected accountability and refused to hold the other employee responsible. This pattern of protecting certain employees, regardless of their actions, was pervasive. Meanwhile, I was reprimanded for working harder and putting in more hours because I wasn’t physically in the office at all times to fix other people’s mistakes—mistakes I had already brought to management’s attention multiple times. A Culture of Favoritism and Neglect Management consistently favored certain employees, including those in higher positions, allowing them to work fewer hours, leave early, and avoid accountability. My suggestions to improve efficiency and organization were swept under the rug, and rather than addressing the issues, the situation worsened over time. This left me feeling unsupported and overworked, ultimately forcing me to consider leaving the company even before my termination. Final Thoughts My experience at Terracon left me disillusioned with the workplace. I felt undervalued, overburdened, and unsupported. Management prioritized protecting certain employees over fostering an efficient, organized, and fair work environment. This lack of accountability and leadership made it nearly impossible to succeed, despite my dedication and willingness to go above and beyond.

Pros

Work/life balance Career advancement training opportunities

Cons

Toxic top-down management culture. Environmental employees are expendable. If you aren’t an engineer, good luck. Management does not care to get to know their employees and favoritism is the norm, not the exception. Unrealistic expectations from new hires. Low compensation for industry standards.
