Pros

The main pro, and the reason I took the job, was the culture, people, and vision/mission of the company. Everyone I worked with loved what they did, cared about their peers and patients, and helped each other out. Working in medical cannabis in Texas is also quite unique and exciting. Many of the other pros that I experienced are no longer occurring, or have been heavily changed due to ownership of the company.

Cons

From the very beginning there were issues with communication between the vertical ladder. There were also issues of false promises regarding raises and help, yet the company was still going through a long start-up phase, and leadership was friendly and somewhat honest. When I was hired, the company was still ran by the original founder and CEO, a Texan and truly caring person, yet after having financial issues, the company was "sold" to an investment firm out of California at which point they began running things into the ground. It was quite apparent that the new interim CEO and board did not care about the employees, patients, quality of the medicine, and that's when the vision and mission were forgotten. The new primary focus was profitability, yet that profitability wasn't really shared with the people who had been working hard and working overtime for the past year(s). It is no longer Texas Original. It's California big $$$.

Pros

You get to help people find relief with the best medicine in the Texas medical cannabis market. There are a lot of opportunities for growth and leadership.

Cons

This is a very fast-paced, intense startup environment that is not suitable for everyone. Working in this space requires constant adaptability, resilience, and sometimes long hours.
