Pros

You live in the Austin, TX area! Access to hockey games and live entertainment events and shows. Learn a lot about the sports and live entertainment business from the hands on experience.

Cons

Leadership is a joke! You live in fear of losing your job everyday. No growth potential. Expected to work from 830-6, M-F, along with every event the building produces (130+ annually), including nights, weekends, and holidays. Don't expect a reasonable comp time for the 2 straight work weeks w/o a day off that is required to be worked. Communication from the top-down gets lost! Forget communicating up, as egos/pride get in the way. Employees with families get access to fringe benefits, while single employees with no families are not entitled to same perks.

Pros

It's a great place to start learning production if you're new to the industry and need some sort of temporary foothold. You can try out a number of different broadcast functions in a relatively low risk and low pressure environment. Fairly flexible schedule. Can probably be done on top of or in addition to another full time position.

Cons

Since the building has opened the pay has stayed relatively the same. It was fine in 2009 in a bum market- now production people can make gobs more money basically anywhere else, so the incentive isn't exactly there, and that doesn't always attract the brightest and best.
