Low wages, deceptive - Chauffeur The Driver Provider Employee Review

Pros

Flexible hours, decent per trip pay

Cons

Wages are very low when you factor in time. I am a licensed, Class B CDL driver with a Passenger endorsement and a flawless driving record and I am making a little more than $10/hr. Because pay is based on trips, wages are very low. Every day you will have at least1-2 hours of prep and post work that will not be compensated for. If there is quick turnaround between trips than money is good, but turnaround is almost never quick meaning you'll spend several hours of your day waiting and not being paid. If you don't watch your paystubs, they will not pay you the proper amount for your more expensive trips either.

The Driver Provider Response

Thank you for taking time to post a review. To address your primary concern, chauffeur compensation is based on a commission model. While we acknowledge that this may seem confusing for some, we do take pains to explain it thoroughly at the outset of employment. If there are any questions in this regard, we invite you to visit with Director of Recruitment and Training, Tyson Williams for additional training and/or explanation. We believe that it is very important for team members to understand their compensation, and assure that we will take as much time as needed to explain the policy and why we have chosen that model. We further acknowledge that many of our markets are seasonal which can lead to fluctuations in earnings potential at certain times of the year. Unfortunately this is a reality of life in the hospitality industry. That said, we have developed new segments to our business that offer higher and steadier income potential for chauffeurs with your qualifications. Over-the-road tours pay handsomely and are an exciting way of making a living. It does require substantial time away from home, and may not right for everyone. The polar opposite of that is the steady reliability of corporate shuttles. This segment provides steady, regular route work at predictable times and pay rates. They are perfect for those looking for a set schedule and paycheck. We will keep looking to diversify our operation and provide a varied range of employment opportunities. Thank you for your work on behalf of The Driver Provider; please come speak with us about some of our other segments to see if they may be a better fit for your needs.

Pros

Good retirement or part time work.

Cons

Management quick to reprimand for mistake but seldom recognizes compliments from customers. Lack of maintenance on vehicles. Issues can be repeatedly reported with no action. Driver management does not reply to emails or text unless it affects their bottom line or is complaint related. Turnover rate is very high. Not employee friendly. Management expects high standard but does not listen to suggestions to improve vehicle maintenance or customer services. Some archaic protocol that would apply to pre-digital communications and services such as news papers and business publication on board.
