The Infatuation

Is this your company?

Probably the most toxic environment I've ever been in - Staff Writer The Infatuation Employee Review

Pros

You get $2,500 a month to spend eating at restaurants, and there are some great people on the team.

Cons

If you're a staff writer at The Infatuation, know that there is zero work/life balance. This is one of those scenarios where they bill it as a "fun!" job and expect you to devote every waking minute to the company. Writers sign on at 9 AM and often don't sign off until after 6 PM, and are typically out eating until 8-9 PM (but often later). The workload is so intense that most also dedicate their entire weekends to restaurant research, leading to weeks on end where no one is able to take a real day off. Serious/experienced writers should not apply, as you'll be told to dumb down your writing style, not use any "big words" or sounds "too knowledgable" about food. You'll be paired with editors who lack a basic understanding of grammar and sentence structure, and held to unrealistic expectations. There are also many instances where they'll ask you to write reviews for the sites of restaurants you've been to on your own time/dime, especially if you eat out while you're on vacation.
