When I started, straight out of University, I had a great manager and a great Managing Director; both of whom had a passion and desire to see me succeed in my role and in my career. However, with changes in the business, my hiring manager and MD left the business, and things went rapidly downhill.
Whilst our team leader was excellent, there was little communication nor direction from the top, and very little investment or trust in the team.
What was even worse was being promised that our team would be looked after, and backed all the way - only to be cut, and laid off in the end. This was further compounded by a new job, which was in effect the same as the one I was already doing, being offered on the same day as our redundancy.
To me, it seemed like the entire redundancy plan was just to hack staff costs, and instead of investing in new talent, it was simply disregarded. Ironic given the nature of the company.
