Pros
• Everybody has share options, so has a high degree of interest in the success of the business.
• Pockets of exceptionally smart people.
• Strong set of benefits outside of salary - ClassPass points, Juno (wellbeing/shopping) Points, WFH contribution, Insurances, Socials.
Cons
COMMERCIAL
• Concerningly slow commercial pipeline, very well-connected co-CEO brought in a year ago but nothing to show for it yet.
PRODUCT
• Obsession with AI - it's framed as revolutionary for the company but realistically is their excuse not to pay up & hire more people.
HR/PEOPLE
• High rate of firings/failed probations has created a culture of uncertainty among employees, regardless of your tenure at the company. Two things need to happen - a hard look at itself as to whether these people were given ample support or if they jumped the gun in letting them go, and greater accountability for the HR team and their approach.
• Lack of transparency amid said firings - nobody is told, you just find out when you try to contact them and they're no longer there. Crazy!
• The business is wildly under-resourced for what it wants to achieve. Over-ambitious/ignorant senior mgmt (esp at the very top) are leaving some of the rest of the business unable to cope with demands, exacerbating the situation above.
• Relatively poor pay despite senior mgmt insisting they pay well - just need to look at other roles in the field to get your answer.
• Beware of your non-compete clause.
• Insistence on employees towing the company line...we were all told to write good reviews in an effort to bury the bad ones :)
