Pros
This job is extremely rewarding! Spending your days with the dogs --most of which become like family after you've spent so much time together-- and seeing them play and grow means that even a bad day is better than many people's good days. Your fellow walkers are always great as it takes a certain kind of personality to take on the challenge of walking and training dogs and management is always there to support you however you may need it.
Cons
This is a fun job, but it's a tough job. Dogs are still animals and you have to remember to never get complacent. It's also a rain or shine gig, so be prepared for the challenges of keeping your dogs and yourself cool and hydrated during a heat wave or brace yourself for spending a day in the rain and chill of a Bay Area winter. Both extremes present unique challenges to the job that, if you don't consider them in advance, could be jarring the first time you encounter them. My best advice is to invest in good rain gear from head to toe!
