I hate to say it but coming from other firms, the paid time off and especially the parental leave is way behind some other players in Tech and Finance. I know the US in general isn't great with maternity / paternity leave but for a company who actively promotes supporting parents and specifically working moms, I did not feel that way. As a new mom, I felt really unsupported and not ready to come back, especially since I was given more time at my previous companies and my baby still needed me.
We get a total of 25 days off for everything - vacation, sick time, caring for relatives, kids, etc and I think that causes a culture of stress to take off when sick. I see so many people that continue to work while sick so they don't have to use up their PTO and I get it because we all work hard at Tradeweb so vacation and time off with family is important.
I've also been really confused during the whole pandemic and return to work announcements. We were told we had to go back to the offices as hybrid in June and now there are additional variants and I'm unsure what the expectations are. I think as variants come up and confusion around COVID more transparency is important. I know a lot of parents that have young children are not and were not comfortable being around crowds and it would have been nice to not be forced back before the pandemic has ended.
