Pros
The science side of the organization is great and I really enjoyed working with those people. The building and office area was very nice. Compensation wasn't fantastic, but it was competitive and fair. The work itself was okay and the challenges kept me entertained throughout the years.
Cons
My department, IT, had been toxic for a long long time. our CIO, who was later dismissed, was an insular anti-charismatic do-nothing who needed to have been fired years ago. New management hadn't been good to me either. Worse, or or two of the high-talent people who were actually getting great stuff done were fired/quit in the last couple of years and mediocre people of course are kept on. Some of the director-level staff really need to be replaced or managed better. The high-talent individuals were not being properly recognized and supported, and the dead-weight were not getting cut lose. Outside of my department, the constant rounds of layoffs have been really demoralizing and it affected the entire organization.
