Pros
Great team structure, and attentive management style. Everyone involved is working to create a fantastic vision for restaurants and digital partners alike. Remote work is flexible and the technology is cutting-edge. I love coming to work.
Cons
I honestly cant complain, I'm very fortunate to be where I am and enjoy the work I put into the company.
Pros
As an ELT member, it's sort of an odd thing to do to put a review here on Glassdoor. Many will likely read this with skepticism, and most will want to instead hear from people filling similar roles to the ones they want to pursue in their own careers. I’m not certain this will have much value as a result, but I decided to write a review here in case it’s helpful as prospective and current employees explore this company and make decisions about their careers. TRAY is an up-and-coming software tech company in the Hospitality segment. We’re 10 years old as I write this, though the company essentially started over with a new trajectory and vision in 2020/2021 so it really feels like a 2-3 year old start up. I’ve been here for almost 1 year of that journey. We’ve reached stability with our install base, and we’re on a very large growth curve in the industry. Aspects of our solution are unique and needed in this space. It’s a really fun situation to be in. Here are a few highlights on what TRAY is like and what we offer: • We are a remote, work from anywhere culture. • Each member of the C suite has significant years of experience in the industry and in their respective fields. We work very well together. We aren’t afraid of discourse when needed, we value feedback and we are aligned on the broader vision. (Yes, I’m clearly biased here, but I would work with these people again in a heartbeat) • Every employee is valued for their voice and has freedom to make an impact and add value wherever they see a need. • Every employee has options and a stake in the success of the organization. • Transparency, accountability, and having a good time while we’re working hard to achieve big things are all key tenants of our culture • Beyond the above items, currently TRAY provides: o Medical/Dental/Vision o 401K (US employees) o Unlimited vacations o Birthdays Off o Unlimited access to full Udemy course catalog for professional growth in whatever area matters to each employee
Cons
No organization is perfect, nor is every organization going to be a perfect fit for each individual. So here are a few notes to think about regarding TRAY and where we’re at as of the date of this posting: • We work hard! TRAY is essentially a startup, so this is not your standard 40 hour work week situation. We do not want anyone working 80-hour weeks consistently. We care about each other and we keep an eye out for burn out, etc. but we’re also a smaller team trying to take on mighty objectives and 8-5 is not really “a thing” here. It’s a more fluid blend of work and life. No one will blink twice if you step out for a doctor’s appointment, a bike ride, or your child’s elementary school end of year performance. BUT we also have last minute issues pop up on weekends or big pushes every once in awhile to finish a sprint with much anticipated new functionality. We are very mindful of work life balance, to the point that we’ve recently undertaken an internal project to understand how each person defines work life balance and what we can do to optimize this for the team. That being said, if you are after a predictable, standard 8-5 work week where you punch out and go home, TRAY likely won’t feel comfortable for you. • For US employees, we offer a 401K for retirement savings, but TRAY isn’t yet big enough to offer a match. It’s planned, and we’ll get there once we grow just a bit more, but it’s not there today. • When we say we are a remote, work from anywhere culture, we mean it. We are spread out across the US and throughout the world, and we know how to make this work. As a result, it’s worth noting that as of this current place in time, TRAY does not have traditional office space where everyone comes into the office to co-mingle. We will soon have dedicated QA office space with room for coworkers to come together in Hyderabad, India as they wish to and we have a small space in Scottsdale for smaller meetings, but generally we use Zoom and get together face to face as opportunities present themselves. This may be a huge bonus for some, while others would view this as a “con”.
