Pros

You can probably steal all of your donations and no one would ever know or care. (I was an honest employee so I didn't do that) You are fundraising for a "good cause!" Lol It is really easy. You stand outside of retail establishments and literally ask people for money. Oh I'm sorry, "donations". It totally is fun, positive, and if you hustle, the whole setup of owning an office for this management training program sounds pretty ideal. I was very hesitant and first and wound up jumping super on board.

Cons

Here is where the fun comes, my story. I am leaving this review because what is being done to me is very much wrong and some of it is actually illegal. Rachel Clark - CLARK CORPORATIONS, INC. Shaina Parker- EMPIRE EVENTS, Inc. These two were sharing an office located in San Diego. I applied for a job at Empire Events through the indeed app. Received a text message to schedule the time for the "first round" one a time was decided I received an email from D.A.R.E. America about what empire events actually did. Oh also, I applied to be an EVENT COORDINATOR. I was hired as a professional fundraiser for CLARK CORPORATIONS. No one in any interviewing process ever expressed to me that there were 2 different companies and that half of the people I "work" with, don't actually work with me. Shaina was not my management and all of her hired and trained leaders were not people I reported to. Each "office" had its own daily sales goals. Again, none of this was explained to me. My first few days were some of the most frustrating days I've ever had at a job. You are paid 30% commission on each donation to the dare program. If you and another person are sent out together, you split every donation drop in half, and then you get 30% of that number. Donation packages start at $20 going all the way to $1000. I had my dad's business do a business donation of an anti bully package($500) with the promise of him being put on the dare website and receiving the promised merchandise on the flier. He has still never received any of that and hasn't even been contacted by Clark Corp to thank him or try to get him on the website. You work standard 12 hour days. You are REQUIRED to arrive around 7 /8 am in BUSINESS PROFESSIONAL ATTIRE. NOT CASUAL. PROFESSIONAL. and you CANNOT LEAVE to go to your "event"(the only place possible for you to earn your commission) until the morning "meeting" goes on. This consists of standing in a room "practice pitching" for TWO HOURS EVERY DAY. I do not lie or exaggerate here. I would get to my "events" anywhere from 10 am - 11 am and that is when you change into your fundraising t shirt (they give you one or two and you have to wear it outside for 12 hours every day) The only sales "goals" are these daily goals they made up in order for you to earn $100 a day. Sounds not bad right? In order for you to hit $300 you either need a "juicy" event as they call them, or you have to stay out until 8 or 9 pm. They do not let you choose or have literally ANY say in which event you are being sent to. You use your car your gas, are expected to drive those without cars, and these areas are anywhere from 5 min away to 1 hour away. Some of these events are not even booked. I went to multiple events to check in and was told I could not setup out front. There is also a risk that if you are too aggressive you will be asked to leave your event. LEAVING YOU TO NOT MAKE MONEY. You are required to update your donation totals at 12/2/4/6 and every hour you stay after. You will never update at 6 and be done. I left events early a lot because I would be 45 minutes from the office and the office settle up and day break down are another hour of your shift not earning commission. So yeah you aren't even done with your day yet. So if the OFFICE makes its goals. They will tell everyone to cut out and head back. Multiple nights I did not receive word to "head back" until after 8 pm. You drive back to the office. Turn in money and have someone "settle" it or count it, which is also THE ONLY THEFT PREVENTION THAT EXISTS. DARE PLEASE AUDIT THESE COMPANIES. The settle up and day breakdown could last anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour. No one makes it clear that you are ever free to leave. EVER. YOU ARE ALSO AN EMPLOYEE. You are not freelance. So you are an employee with zero rights or even fair treatment. You do fill out a w4, I was not given a 1099, I had taxes taken from each check. Oh and it's Monday through Saturday but advertised as full time. So from 730 am until 8 30 pm you will guarantee not be able to go home or live basically Monday through Saturday. None of this is laid out for you.

Pros

If you’re interested in the nonprofit world, this is a great place to start. There is a lot to learn and management will help you if you get stuck. Since the company works with so many different nonprofits, it’s a place to make connections if you’re ambitious and want to find opportunities to advance. Really enjoyed my colleagues here.

Cons

Not a lot. I loved this place.
