Pros

On Fridays you get out at 5:00 instead of 5:30. That is all

Cons

You can tell a lot about a company by the way they integrate and treat new employees. Unfortunately, they are pretty pathetic when it comes to the onboarding process of new hires. They expect you to learn how their system works after they show you one time, and they will not offer any other training for assistance if you need clarification. I have tons of experience in this industry and after only a few weeks there they were pressuring me to quit because they did not think I was working fast enough. I went in there everyday with a good attitude and asked for help from my supervisors and I was told that this is how they do things. It now makes sense to me why they told me it had been a difficult position to fill. I had to figure out how to do everything on my own which inevitably will take more time since they refused to give me any further training or guidance. They constantly told me I was not "impressive" and talked down to me creating a very uncomfortable experience. My boss would continually ask me why I was not working fast enough and would talk down to me in a very demeaning manner. She would do this daily in her office with the door open so the whole office could hear. Many times errors that other new employees were making were getting blamed on me. My supervisor created an unbearable work situation and suggested that I was trying to quit by asking for more help. What a waste of my time and talents.

Pros

Troy Container Line has some excellent connections within the shipping industry and a fluid understanding of routes and regulations, which proved to be beneficial when it came time for me to make my next move.

Cons

While vacation/personal time was not abundant, my experience with the company was not tarnished upon my departure.

Pros

Location in Red Bank is good

Cons

Unfortunately owner has no concept that happy employees make better employees. Management style is antiquated. There's one manager who would loudly and condescendingly berate employees in front of the whole office for everyone to hear and another who could go for days without speaking to his staff. The office is completely open so everyone hears and sees everything. Place is a revolving door. Not many people stay longer than a year or two and most get a clue within a few months and move on. Owner is only concerned with filling the desks and could care less about the well being of his staff. Blizzard going on and state of emergency declared? Doesn't matter. Get to work. Benefits are horrible. Employees would skip going to o the doctor because of the high co-insurance and poor pay. PTO consists of 13 days total to include sick time and is earned at one day per month! Very negative environment. Literally maybe two people out of thirty plus would say they like their job. Must punch in and out every day and hours are not good as you're not paid for your lunch hour which every employee takes from 12-1 every day. Chatting with your coworkers is very frowned upon by the owner and his theory is that since he's paying you by the hour you should be working nonstop from the time you punch in till the time you punch out. There's zero place to move up in the company and raises are very rarely given. If you value your health and mental well being, stay away.
