There is no strategic direction or plan. When repeatedly asked for a strategy in order to build a team to support that strategy, I was told to, “just hire and fill the team.” Which subsequently explains the recent layoffs at the organization.
Upper management doesn’t value the experience or expertise of their team members. Most of the senior leadership lacks basic management skills, but then bullies and belittles more experienced leaders when they bring up suggestions for change or improvement.
The sad part is that the people who work there are incredibly smart and great people, but without good leadership and strategic direction, it has turned into a everyone just try to survive mentality.
Expectations flip by the day or sometimes by the hour. No one is providing direction on prioritization so everything is a priority which leads to poor work life balance.
Most people are overworked and burnt out.
