Pros
The opportunity to help students, many of whom had never had positive school experiences, to enjoy learning while developing new skills was the single best aspect of teaching at the school. My colleagues were also dedicated and passionate instructors I respected.
Cons
The workload was tremendously stressful. Plus, the knowledge that the students I taught were taking out huge student loans to prepare for jobs that would provide salaries that started in the $8-10 dollar range made me feel guilty. Also, the corporate office determined that my position should be replaced with one that focused on retention and recruitment activities, with instruction being only a secondary goal.
