Good for first job - Support Practitioner Turning Point Scotland Employee Review

Pros

They would hire you even if you don't have any prior work experience as long as you have the essential characteristics of a support worker. Turning Point Scotland actually invests in staff training. While there are cliques in Perth, it's not as terrible as other TPS branches. Managers in Perth are quite strict towards staff members, but have a good judgment in terms of designating hours for rotas; they get done in advance.

Cons

There is obvious inequality. We don't get fully stocked pantries or regular buffets like other TPS branches; the appeal for salary raise was also rejected so you could be working as a lead practitioner but earn as much as an entry-level support worker. Lots of time is needed for paperwork, but somehow, you'll need to find a way to get this done within support hours.

Pros

The frontline staff had real heart and compassion. Some colleagues clearly cared about the people they supported. The organisation presents strong values on paper. The job itself was not terrible overall.

Cons

No actual training. Concerns were not always taken seriously. The complaint process felt one sided and final. There was no appeal available in your situation. HR came across as dismissive and patronising. Frontline staff protection felt weak. The company did not always live up to its stated ethos. It could feel like relief workers were treated as replaceable.
