Pros

I've worked for University of Colorado Hospital (central) for almost a year and I love it. I was an ACP, and switched rolls to an RN. They have the patent's and the employees best interest at heart, which is what makes them such a great company. They know that if the staff is unhappy, it will reflect poorly on the patient care, and overall, that wouldn't be good for anyone. You can tell they take the alternative approach and make sure their employees are well cared for and moral stays up. The benefits are phenomenal compared to other jobs. You also see the excecutive board people making rounds and talking with the staff about how things are going. They are very perceptive to ideas and ways to do things better. There's a reason they're 4x magnet. I can easily say that I see myself staying there for the rest of my bedside/acute care career.

Cons

I don't personally like the 0700-1930/1900-0730 schedule, but that's just personal preference. Some people love it! Some floors work different hours though.

Pros

High Acuity patients Maintain Skillset Job security

Cons

Too many patients in a day and not enough time to spend with them. Minimal admin time to manage InBasket and patient needs. Frequently need to juggle a full and complex patient schedule with urgent test results and care coordination. Have to use personal PTO to cover holidays and any time the clinic is closed due to circumstances outside of our control. (weather, power outages, etc) Annual performance Bonuses are now being determined by online patient feedback scores.
