Pros

salary review of 5% last year

Cons

No honesty around pay, grades / band or technical levels within a band. No support for new team leaders / managers. It is ridiculous that my manager can assess me at a level 4 but I can only go up one level at a time. So I should keep working at a level 4 for level 2 money and should be happy about it. No feedback, 121s, appraisal or training gap analysis ever done. There are development plans for some employees but no clearly guide on how to progress or what evidence is required or targets to be achieved. Cell assembly technicians are all paid different rates. The new hires are being paid more than those who have been in post for a few years. Constantly pulled in multiple directions because no one in management has their ducks in a row. Some members of HR want sacking they are bullies and have a talent for running off good employees. We have a dress code (smart casual or UKBIC branded work wear) but some people can wonder around in flip flops, yoga pant and tight tee-shirts with nothing said or done about it. Most of the equipment in the process line (VIL) has not been commissioned properly it is why British Volt went under we were using their product to iron out all the kinks and we are still having issues. If anything breaks in FA&T there is nothing we can do because we have no service contract in place and it takes weeks to get anything agreed and for purchased orders raised / signed off. By the time is all done the cells are scrap because they have been waiting around too long. We have one customer on the edge of collapse. And a few small customers coming through. But it is not enough. Most of those small customer will use the FIL line not VIL. There is no consistency around policy application one line manger allows work from home three days a week, one team cannot be found on a Friday at all and others have a strict no working from home or exceptional circumstances. It’s ridiculous and just causes animosity between teams.

Pros

I can't think of one good thing

Cons

In short, avoid this company at all costs. Bullying and threatening behaviour is dealt with by informal conversation and without speaking to any members concerned. Members of management single out members of their own team as important and others as unimportant in front of the team and MD which is extremely unprofessional. Man Eng staffing decisions are made by a literal coin flip rather than putting any effort or thought into it. The same department offer no support or desire to do the bare minimum of their jobs. L&D team is more like a friends and family development and delivers nothing of meaning. HR do not want to do anything and will not acknowledge any grievance or issue as it is too much work for them (that's when they are actually on site). Instead directors are told to pressure people into dropping concerns rather than actually address then. On top of all of this, you are sold a promise of progression and prospects which either do not exist or are blocked at every step along the way. Only certain demographics are employed in engineering roles and it is borderline discriminatory Overall this company is getting worse and not better and no concerns raised on here or in employee surveys have ever been addressed and never will unless something changes
