Pros

I have worked at UL for 8 years now and moved all the way from Engineer to Engineering Leader. You enjoy the people that work with you at UL and that is the reason the company stays a float. The benefits are decent.

Cons

The company is based upon Engineering but there are no engineers in management. When you do make it, you are asked to be a “YES” man or else moved back to a technical role. Well the aspiration of upper management may focus on profit, there is no business plan, foresight, or even any idea what can be done to sustain growth. Former clients who worked at UL are disgusted with UL’s policy and customer service practices. The DMV looks more efficient as UL is littered with red tape. No creativity or recognition is supported by management. No Growth. It is a job and not a career.

Pros

UL solution was my first office job and engineering experience. It did not disappoint, and got me excited for my future, The HR and hiring team were all so nice and helpful throughout my internship. My managers were helpful, patient, and understanding when I had a family emergency near the end of my internship that forced me to leave the country temporary. The internship showed the various departments in the company, not just the one we had applied for. Would definitely recommend anyone to apply for them.

Cons

UL solutions is focused in certifications and safety, so if you are expecting projects involving development and design this is not the place, We had to do a breakdown on products and perform tests to ensure it meets standards of safety.

Pros

Strong brand reputation and credibility in the marketplace. Excellent opportunity to gain experience in sales, compliance, testing, certification, and regulatory industries. Friendly, knowledgeable, and collaborative colleagues who are willing to help each other succeed. Good work-life balance compared to many sales organizations. Stable business with diverse industries and customers. Professional development opportunities and exposure to complex customer challenges.

Cons

Typical large-company bureaucracy can slow decision-making and execution. Internal processes and approvals may require patience and persistence. Organizational complexity can sometimes create challenges when navigating cross-functional initiatives. Career progression may occasionally depend on understanding and adapting to corporate dynamics.
