Pros

1. Health Benefits (If full time) are okay. You could probably honestly get the same if not better insurance working a minimum wage job. 2. Potential to earn / receive quarterly or annual bonuses. 3. Flex schedule. 4. "Competitive wages" 5. Minimal job micromanagement. 6. Quarterly Manager check-ins. (Love these personally) 7. Fast paced work environment. (I love the fast paced work) 8. The people on my team(s) are great, love our staff! 9. Constantly updating safety science standards and procedures to help make the world a safer place. 10. Community service opportunities.

Cons

Unfortunately within the company, there have been lots.. and lots of layoffs in the last year. (Not a secret, available knowledge online) Most are employees of 5-20+ years. UL solutions HR is able to "help" most staff to find other positions available within UL Solutions. Though, HR in my experience is fairly biased towards upper management, so it can be hard to still find an available position at UL if you were laid off. Unless HR took part in your lay off, then you have almost no chance of getting back in. If you are looking for a morally sound place, I personally would not recommend. Yes, UL does an amazing job helping to improve product safety, especially in the electrical and automotive fields, but in my opinion; one of their flaws is the complete lack of empathy towards those who are in lower management, base line employees, part-time and even interns. If they would spend more time focusing on the employees they currently have instead of hiring more and more executives from outside of the company, maybe they would have a better approval rating on this Glass Door site. Salaries could be better, though still good as far as base pay. Based on local (my local) positions with the same title, other places are making almost $10 more per hour than those at UL. -public knowledge on wage averages per job title.

Pros

- Mission - Work life balance - Pay - Modernization of the workplace

Cons

- Every year benefits are reduced with terrible and tone deaf justifications. - Added benefits tend only to benefit new employees. - Perception that the company does not value long term employees (suspension of defined benefit program) - Poor ESPP discount - Lack of transparency on how AEIP bonus is calculated - Workflow tools are still extremely cumbersome after years of promises to fix them - Lack of enforcement of hybrid work policy. Many people never come in and are never spoken to about it.
