Pros

The US Air Force culture is very similar to corporate culture. It was easy to transition from active duty to government contracting. It is easy to work with the US Air Force as a government contractor. As active duty, 30 days of paid time off per year was awesome! Full benefits for medical, dental, and vision was also nice. Job security and a stipend for housing and food was also a great benefit.

Cons

As with any branch of the military, the obligation to be on-call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week can be frustrating. Unfortunately, personnel that are not performing well are able to remain in the work force well past when an underperforming civilian counterpart would have been terminated for the same performance.

Pros

Teaches you a trade while paying you. Social appreciation. Purpose. If you have no idea what you want to do with your life especially as far as a career goes, run to a recruiter. Regardless of whereever you come from a military career is your stepping stone into middle class and up living and career opportunity.

Cons

Every extra dollar you attempt to make beyond your rank will require more work than you will be paid to do. The real payoff monetarily you get from competing in the military will come in to play during your post life. Confidence, courage, accountability, etc are not standard attributes in people at all.
