Pros
US Foods is great place to work if you want a job but I wouldn't make it a career. After working in several departments over 20 years, I've observed there's generally good support from middle management with opportunity for incremental promotions. The people at USF are wonderful to work with, dedicated and hard-working.
Cons
There's little work-life balance due to near-anemic staffing levels. This tends to make everyone work down a grade from their actual positions and doesn't really allow time for middle managers to mentor and grow their teams. More senior management is often in the trenches due to insufficient middle management to handle the day-to-day operations. Strategic thinking and long-term planning are done on weekends and holidays. Although was promoted regularly through the ranks, this was unusual. Incremental promotions were generally all most folks could achieve.
