Working for UT Health is disappointing on the good days, and depressing most other times, especially lately. - Anonymous employee UTHealth Houston Employee Review

Pros

The health benefits are top-notch (though I hear that is changing due to budget constraints). Management is very sympathetic to leave-requests. There are regular opportunities for advancement (good in the short view).

Cons

Management appears to be untrained, formally. Budget cuts and "restructuring" are rampant throughout all departments. All non-essential "perks" have been done away with (ie. cell phone supplements, catered meetings, holiday parties, etc.) Pay raises have been halted for at least 3 years. Workloads are increasing steadily while resources are not.

Pros

Respect between colleagues and bosses

Cons

The pay is not very competitive, but it is only a student research assistant position and is more about the experience
