Pros
Great peers, clinical staff, and immediate manager during my time there. Lots of unique hands on clinical experience gained in a generally positive environment.
Cons
There are no growth opportunities. AM/PM shifts have 1 lead only. For young professionals (and college students) the position is designed as a stepping stone with a short lifecycle. UW Health does not mirror other academic medical centers that include Anesthesia Tech I, II, III growth sequences. Immediate manager was changed to a nursing position and now lacks direct experience in role. This change to nurse management blocked all potential experienced in house qualified tech applicants to lead their own team. Creative ideas and solutions fail to be incorporated by upper management to maintain the status quo regardless of policy/compliance standards, potential long term benefits for the organization, or support of immediate manager. Pay. You can be the most effective and capable on the team, but there is no path to translate that to earnings unless selected for random minor bonuses.
