Pros
Only work there if you are VERY part time.
Cons
A regular worker works 17 1/2 hours a week consisting of 12 hour days 3 days a week. and 5 1/2 hour on your 4th day. You get paid minimum wage. The flight benefits are basically you have last preference. Delta employees get first preference, than other employees like locksmith's and your security supervisor get second, and you get last. Unlike Delta, you do not get any buddy passes, or companion in lieu of spouse. This security job requires that you are on your feet wanding and checking bags of employees. So if you wanted to fly by yourself, you would come back with jetlag to work your butt off. You get no sick days. There health plan is not generous to say the least. They fire you left and right. Remember it takes at least 8 weeks background check just to be able to work in an airport.. Additionaly, the public transportation in NYC especially if your shift ends at 12:30 am doesn't run frequently. So it can take you that much longer to get home. I had to fight for backpay. It wasn't an easy battle as these DGS professionals wouldn't answer the phone. IN SHORT, STAY FAR AWAY FOR ITS NOT DELTA, rather its a wholly owned subsidiary of Delta where the con you. Additionaly, as for LGA airport, I heard that they don't provide you parking for DGS Screeners. If you think your gonna bike, they will not allow you to use their shower located in terminal A. That's only for Delta employees.
