Pros
There are no pro’s. Go to a different railroad. In fact, that’s what I was told when I went to upper management with an idea that could potentially save the company millions of dollars system wide. “take it to another railroad.”
Cons
You are treated like crap from the word go. From the moment you’re hired, they’re trying to fire you. If you think I’m exaggerating, look up what “railroad job insurance” is. Beyond that, don’t expect any of your hard work to be noticed, but if you forget to dot an “i” be ready to lose your job. The company is so horribly mismanaged and micro managed it will make you wonder how in the heck they turn a profit. I’ve literally watched them waste 10’s of thousands of dollars to save a couple hundred. Don’t think that the union has your back. It is nothing but another company taking money out of your pay check. They’re more corrupt than most politicians! If you ever need help from a union rep, they will blow you off or just tell you it’s out of their hands.
