Pros
Pros: - Good benefits for such a small nonprofit, including incentives for the high deductible/bronze plan. - Employees are able to get experience in many areas, even outside of your regular job description. Professional development is encouraged. - The staff at UpGlo are top-notch and dedicated people. I don't think I will ever work with another group of people so enthusiastic about a mission.
Cons
Cons: - Salaries are on par with the nonprofit sector, but much too low to be able to support yourself in most of the office locations (NY and San Francisco). - UpGlo struggles to be one organization. The offices are very siloed and your experience with the company will vary by which office you are working in. - Work can be a bit chaotic at UpGlo, with a "culture of chaos". Priorities are changed, grant goals chased, and there is a focus on continuously innovating and improving the program.
