Pros
I have 5+ years experience at Urban and have witnessed the fluctuations in the fortunes of this company. The people and culture are why I have stayed in good times and bad. Managers at all levels advocate to support and accommodate staff who are dealing with difficult situations. The company has a history of doing the "right" thing. Staff members rally and support each other. Communication between departments within a business unit is good and improving. More and more the "why" we do something is the focus of meetings as opposed to just the "how". Opportunities for managers and staff to own their work and become SMEs are growing and employees are encouraged to take on that ownership. There are a lot of talented, hard working people at Urban. I have not seen the level of dedication to meeting quality and production goals in my previous work experience. From the entry level processor to senior level staff, everyone strives to exceed expectations because that is the culture. It's a great environment to work in because everyone is working together for success. The culture is a direct result of the example and direction provided by Chuck Sanders and the leadership of the company.
Cons
The support departments should focus more on ensuring the success and efficiency of the revenue generating operations. Primarily, removing red tape and administrative tasks from the daily routine of the staff and managers would be an improvement.
