One gets to interact with almost all people in the firm, due to its size. There's ample exposure to several businesses due to the nature of work. Most people are easily approachable. If one accepts the technology, job satisfaction for the technically oriented person is guaranteed.

Inconsistency in profitability year-to-year. Lack of reasonable advance notice to employees in the event of layoffs. Growth beyond a certain level is not possible. Incentives end up being either job satisfaction, or salary raises (when possible).

The company has lots of unique opportunities with a variety of big name companies in a variety of unique industries. The social culture and manager/engineer dynamic is excellent – there’s discipline without feeling starched.

On the backside of the economic downturn, there can be a bit of hat-swapping sometimes, which can be a positive, but roles are not always clear cut and this can lead to confusion and execution issues.
