Pros
Vantage is very upfront about the expectations and reality of the position. Most of the teachers are lovely people who truly care about children. Managers are hard working and accessible. Working hours are decent and all summer and winter holidays are paid. There is a unified curriculum that makes lesson planning easy. There is thorough training at the beginning of the year and ongoing professional development throughout the year. Planning time is available in scheduled blocks, but can also be done at school after student dismissal (2PMish). Always paid on time. Travel expenses always reimbursed on time. There is a contract completion bonus at the end of each school year. This is a great job for people who are willing to work hard. The company/management are very reasonable and will take good care of you. Most teachers stay with the company for years and years.
Cons
On days when not scheduled at school, teachers become the substitute option. It can be a drag to get called in to an unfamiliar school to substitute suddenly. Some years there are lazy teachers who don't care about their students or their jobs who call out sick constantly, shifting the burden to the hard-working teachers who have to cover. Commutes can be long, depending on where teachers choose to live.
