As a hard and fast rule, we do not permit employees to work off the clock. We discuss the importance of being paid for the time that you work in new hire training, and reiterate that throughout employment. We take this so seriously, we have actually had to take disciplinary action against employees who tried to work off the clock. We simply would not stand for this.
On occasion there may be a power outage or a third-party website that goes offline, preventing certain team members from working for a short time. If they are unable to do other work, they will clock off until the power or website is back up, although they are in constant communication with their team lead. They are of course able to make up any hours missed.
We also have a multi-step process to ensure time sheets are accurate, including having employees submit their timesheets, a manager approving them, and then an independent HR representative reviewing each payroll item before we process payroll. We are diligent about ensuring employees get paid for all time worked.
