Pros

- Alphabet back up, no funding pressure - Have some smart people and engineer - Impactful domain

Cons

Unless you are super super passionate about healthcare industry, not worth joining. - Overall the company does not know what they are. Startup? One of the department of Google? Without a clear understanding what it is, you will see confusion everyday: when they try to attract talent, they will pitch you from google/alphabet back up (culture, funding etc). When they try to burn you out and cut benefit, they will say we are NOT google so don't expect same culture and benefit as google. Leadership can not make a mind at all what is Verily in terms of company culture. - Pay is not up to market if you are senior people from external hiring, and refresh not guaranteed. - Due to unclear self recognition, day to day work for engineer is challenge: move fast as startup? move slow as google? Leadership has no clue or redirection, so cause tons of confusion to engineers.

Pros

Most of the team was very smart, and much of the work was very interesting.

Cons

Chaotic team structure, lots of red tape, confusing project ownership, too many overlapping people on some projects, while not enough for others.
