Pros

Amazing group of coworkers Everyone being inspiring creatives Working on a really big name title

Cons

Unable to find alternate work which resulted in all our eggs in one basket This could have possibly been addressed early on, but was ignored in favor of doubling down into the one work source we had This also meant career development was limited At a high level I think our CEO had too many projects to worry about and couldn't focus on VVS individually enough Fremont is not the easiest place to commute to from anywhere

Pros

- Employee culture is a definitive priority at VVS - Opportunity to work in indie gaming where getting under the hood is encouraged and really facilitated - Inclusive from a DEI perspective, lots of ERGs to plug into - No shortage of opportunities for employees to gather

Cons

On paper, VVS is very forward with being invested in its employees and being culture-centric and providing resources and opportunities to develop solid working relationships - but also defaults to the toxic gaming industry swing of hiring a bunch of full-time roles for contracted projects, only to be constantly hiring/laying off instead of re-allocating employees appropriately to studio needs. It's a very myopic business management strategy that is also a result of the founder, Sean Vesce, being completely preoccupied with launching an entire second company, Live Aware Labs, and not being fully present to the needs of Very Very Spaceship: being slow to respond to critical team requests/asks, inconsistent with budgeting/approvals, and plainly not available when needed. Every problem with the company stems from that normalized short-sighted and chaotic leadership strategy.
