Pros

Most benefits were very good

Cons

The Care Collaboration team at Vim was described internally as a “startup within a startup,” but in practice it feels unstructured and poorly managed. The manager leading Care Collaboration demonstrated highly inconsistent management practices throughout my time there. Communication was extremely poor. He insisted that communication be done solely through AI-generated summaries on Slack, even when we were physically sitting next to each other in the office. I was told to “be my own boss,” that I could work from wherever I needed to as long as I completed my assigned tasks, and that the only reason to come into the office was to work with him. I was also instructed to demand things from others in the office rather than ask. Specifically, I was instructed to prioritize him over all other colleagues and to limit interaction with others, which created confusion and isolation rather than autonomy. Expectations frequently changed without notice. For example, he questioned why I came into the office early/on time every day and instructed me to come in later, then criticized me the following day for coming in later even though he did not come into the office at all that day. Even though like I mentioned, he told me the only reason I came into the office was to work with him. Instead of focusing on sales and training for when the product goes live, which is what the role was advertised as, I was regularly assigned tasks that were outside the scope of the role, rather than work aligned with the position I was hired for. After only two weeks, I was terminated and given an unclear explanation, despite following and meeting all instructions and timelines that had been given to me. Notably, the Head of HR approached me in the office after overhearing how he spoke with me and said that if his communication escalated further, I should let her know. Two days later, I was let go. No commission plan existed. In fact, sales were not feasible at the time, as the product was still under development and not possible to sell yet.
