Was on good track, until ‘merger’ - Anonymous employee Vinfolio Employee Review

Pros

Wine selection is world class

Cons

Company was on a great track prior to merger with Fine and Rare. Upper management cared about the team and their well-being, while problems were getting fixed. With the new leadership put in place by fine and rare, arrogance is abundantly clear, the workplace is very toxic, and all of the team feel ‘expendable’ (something actually said to us in a town hall shortly after the merger). Steer clear of this terrible environment.

Pros

Management understands work/life balance. Has taken COVID-19 seriously since day one and provides PPE, hand sanitizer, information, etc to help keep staff safe and healthy. (I was part of the team who implemented the plan in 2020, so I don't understand the other reviewer's complaint stating that we don't provide PPE). Offers flexibility to work from home if needed. Great benefits. Excellent time off policy. Management happily works with team members to come up with positive resolutions for complex client inquiries. Room to advance within the company. Work independently within a team environment. Everyone is willing to help each other out and to succeed in their position ("no man is an island"). Exciting to be part of a company's growth and success and to see the positive changes occurring within the company. No two days are alike and you'll never be bored.

Cons

System glitches cause more work than necessary, however, they are currently being updated which will resolve several issues.

Pros

you technically get paid for doing something, outside of that, nothing

Cons

Where to start. I've heard the management that was most problematic moved on, which is fabulous, but they were only one issue. They did everything they could to defend management that was way in over their heads. They had no idea how to communicate with people efficiently, every issue, no matter how minute, was treated as an apocalyptic catastrophe (though ironically most issues were caused by SOPs and management). The operations are utterly ridiculous. if you've ever worked wine warehouse/shipping jobs before, I can't even begin to do justice in describing how backwards and counter-intuitive it is. There is no streamlining of any kind, every method of retrieving a bottle of wine from location takes hours longer than is necessary. I'm honestly surprised they've lasted as long as they have. During covid, aside from wearing masks, there was absolutely no protocol and nothing to help protect employees - they found out an employee was positive and let them continue to work the day out, fantastic for everyone else!
