Pros

The salary was above average.

Cons

Poor quality management is the fundamental issue at Vinschool. Management has no idea how to run bilingual schools successfully. Approve of CEO? That would be an emphatic ‘No’. Academic standards are very low, some students can hardly read and write in English while others clearly have special needs, yet they are pushed into academically demanding programs without extra support for the students or teachers. There is no way teachers can deliver good quality lessons with such an overloaded schedule and so many students and parents to deal with. Staff turnover is extremely high, which means students don’t get consistent teaching and literacy standards remain low. Student behavior can be poor and unruly, due to a lack of school policies and consistency. HR… are they over-stretched? Maybe. Mismanaged? Absolutely. They are very disorganized, not knowledgeable about Vietnamese employment laws and often teachers will face a hard time getting visas sorted and reimbursements. The working environment is toxic due to the terrible management and HR policies, as such, morale is very low. HR feel their raison d’etre is to punish/police teachers rather than support them. Integrity is non-existent at Vinschool. Lying and corruption is endemic. Contracts are virtually meaningless. Resources and technology are constantly failing because VinGroup doesn’t give a damn about quality. We’re talking huge chunks of plaster falling off ceilings, cracks in floors and walls, laptops that break, hardly any functioning printers, intermittent internet, no science materials.

Pros

Salary, neighborhoods schools are built in are more western style than local style.

Cons

No planning time poor managmenet no teacher observations for Cambridge Program Many unenforceable clauses in contract not a great employer. Large companies with no knowledge of education should stick to their industry. Vingroup obviously has done this for tax breaks on their communities they are building around Hanoi, and now HCMC. My friend said I would never last a year there having known people who worked at Vinschool. I should have listened to him.
