Pros

VT is a large school with plenty of things going on. If you plan to work on Higher Education, the is a great place to gain experience and build your resume. Great opportunity to see "how the sausage gets made."

Cons

As an Assistant Director, be prepared to work over 40hrs/week without overtime on a regular basis. In my experience innovation was not rewarded, more so who is willing to "play ball" even if the work is ineffective. High turnover for faculty and staff of color. The town of Blacksburg is nice if you have your own support network, otherwise it can be hard to find community, especially if you value diversity. Make sure to get everything in writing when discussing your benefits and professional development with with your boss, or bosses boss.
