Pros

Norton is an independent and employee-owned company (basically the last of them). We are significantly smaller than other publishers (about 450 employees), but we continue to grow and succeed in this industry because of our commitment to editorial quality. We publish really good books. All of my colleagues are smart, interesting, curious people. And because we're employee-owned, we're in it together and I never get the feeling that I'm alienated from my labor! We are well-regarded by other publishers as well, and by professors. We are also given a lot of trust and independence in the field - there's not extensive reporting responsibilities or crazy ultimatums about meeting your sales goal.

Cons

The pay is lower than at other publishers, but the benefits and matching are nice. We don't have company credit cards and some of our systems are outdated (like expense reporting). The culture at Norton is so strong that you sometimes feel encouraged to lose yourself in it.
