Pros

Intelligent and passionate co-workers (unfortunately held back in a sexist culture rampant with favortism)

Cons

- total lack of transparency from management. An to attempt placate this longtime concern came in the form of a bi-weekly internal newsletter, but it honestly failed to address any real issues such as financial burdens, how the downturn in the crypto market might affect jobs, etc. - major issues swept under the rug (e.g. complaints of misogyny) - rampant favoritism. Preferential treatment given to others on baseless grounds - employees going over manager’s heads to get want they want leads to a toxic culture and becomes very discouraging to those who work hard. Promotions are given on a basis of friendship NOT merit - inability to scale: everything for this company is about image (as a PR firm, this should be no surprise). But as a result of hiring too quickly regardless of the volatility of the crypto market, many were let go from their positions with no warning (see lack of transparency above) - for December layoffs, several severance packages (which were already minimal at 2 weeks pay) were paid out long after they were due. This was especially egregious because the layoffs occurred right before the holidays and left approximately 20% of the NYC employees without enough pay to get through Christmas

As with any startup environment, we are particularly attuned to the fluctuations that occur when reorganizations like these are in effect — both from a cultural perspective and from a business perspective. We are aware of individual issues that have been raised, and have managed those issues on a case-by-case basis, allowing for full investigations to take place in an effort to rectify the situation.
