Pros

Hanging out with dogs and co-workers are amazing.

Cons

They only care about money. It’s all about how many animals you can squeeze into tiny kennels. The facility is not well maintained and needs major work. Chronically understaffed on purpose. They run a skeleton crew to save on labor costs. Poor training. You watch some videos and shadow for a day before your thrown to the wolves. Poor management. Managers are the only ones trained to feed/medicate. I was told in my interview that only 3 people were trained to medicate animals. How are they supposed to keep up with 300+ animals in house. Most come in with medication these days.

Pros

If you love, and I mean REALLY love dogs, then this is the best job ever and the pros FAR outweigh the cons. Get paid to hang out with dogs, give/get hugs and kisses on the clock! Great management support Customers often bring treats like donuts, candy, and Christmas gifts Stress-free/low-stress work environment Often very fun and easy work

Cons

Pay is okay. Enough to get by and though we could go make more somewhere else, this place is worth it because of the low stress and fun environment Depending on certain times of the year, the hours can be less than great. During peak holiday times, there is no problem getting your hours but when things slow down your hours may be cut slightly/significantly And like I said, you really have to love dogs. If you're just looking for a job to get a paycheck you will not last long here.
