Pros

In this job you do spend a lot of time with does - which for a dog person is fantastic! In my experience on most weekdays you were not overwhelmed which was nice because you could pay attention to each dog and it was an enjoyable environment.

Cons

After about a year of working here they fired the manager and promoted someone else to manager. This repeated every. single. summer. for 3 years and with each new manager the level of competency seemed to decline as well. From what I could tell, upper management and ownership stopped caring so much about the dogs and employees and focused only on how much profit they could squeeze our of the customers. When I first started working here there were maybe 15-20 dogs to each human, by the time I left each dog care attendant was responsible for 40 dogs consistently, which is way too many. I also had several ethical objections to the way the business was being run. Each dog is given a 'suite' which is about a 6x4 space with solid walls for them to sleep and eat in. When customers were shown around the premise they were shown these suites and this is where most dogs would spend their nights. However, towards the end of my time here on busy holidays (4th of July, Christmas, etc) dogs would be placed in wire crates - the ones you typically have for your dog for a car ride - and the owners were told they were staying in the normal suites. Golden Retrievers were placed into these crates they could barely fit in and the customers were paying almost $50 a night, never to know their dog was not in a private 'suite'. I hope that management has fixed some of these problems but based on what my friends still working there have told me it is all still much of the same.

Pros

Caring owners and many of the guests (dogs and cats) became family.

Cons

The schedule was always different. Needed more of a routine.

Pros

Of course the dogs will always be the best thing about it, hence the reason of wanting to work there in the first place. The managers and owners are the first people to show that they actually care about the employees. & communication is KEY along with patience. I've thought at times they've forgotten things I've brought up to them, but they do listen and have made me feel like a valued employee. I've learned so much about the dogs and the staff there are always willing to answer and teach you anything you ask to better manage the dogs and improve! Management is understanding when issues that come up with attendance and are willing to step into the play yards as well to cover for people. The small cons are nothing compared to the many pros this place has.

Cons

Drama/ petty gossip on other staff (which will always be at any workplace) has been an occurring issue no matter how many times management addresses on it, it continues... Also It feels like there's not enough rule enforcement with the pcs in the play yards when watching the dogs
