Pros
Waste Connections invests heavily in a servant leadership model that has truly worked to make this a fun work place where I can be authentic to who I am and be productive. The goal is to hire strong people and then help them to continuously improve from wherever they are. We work together as a team to build each other up as opposed to knifing each other in the back to get ahead as in many work cultures. Compensation is excellent when base+incentive compensation are considered. Base pay alone seems to be competitive, but may fall on the low end.
Cons
The company makes it clear that flexibility to relocate is a big part of the hiring and promotion process for management positions. Those who are picky or negative toward relocation will likely experience delayed promotional opportunities. The work/life balance tends to blur within the culture--where fellow employees frequently become friends or work events bleed into the evening. The culture can take a very casual, irreverent tone, reflecting the company's blue collar background. These elements can be seen as either pros or cons, depending on perspective.
