Pros

The only thing I enjoyed about this job was the independence. Being able to work all day without someone lurking over your shoulder.

Cons

I worked for this company and I'm not writing this because I'm bitter that they fired me for missing 2 days of work during the season and coming in late(which I was told it doesn't matter when u start as long as your route gets done many times at the beginning of the year) a few times but still completing my route and getting everything done. This company is all about sell sell sell. They will sell you fungicide treatments that u don't even need. They will tell you u have diseases in your lawn and it needs to be taken care of right away. How can my boss see over 10 diseases in lawns within a couple weeks and make all these up sells but I have seen maybe 3 or 4 the whole season. Telling people they have a disease called red thread when clearly in the pics he showed me, u couldn't even see any signs of it. I was ridiculed for bringing up the fact that the yards weren't being spread well enough and that something needed to change because I was having to respray nearly 85% of the yards that were treated. My job was to spot treat weeds during other applications but I was doing complete resprays on almost every yard I did. And it wasn't the other techs fault. He did the job like he was shown, but u can't do it the way we were taught or it won't work. They were upset because I brought this issue up and wanted compensation for all the extra work I was doing to make these customers happy. I already had five customers in my first season with them request that only I take care of their lawns and my boss received many compliments from customers about me and my work and my friendly and customer appreciation attitude. They don't care about customer satisfaction as much as they should. They are more worried that u get your 30 to 40 stops done before the end of the day which causes the techs to have to do a lesser quality of work just so they have enough time to complete the lawns. They will call and try and push up sells to customers to the point where they put that in front of customers calling about things they need done and fixed. If a customer orders something extra, example grub control for the season, they will automatically do the extra application the following year without even asking the customer if they would like the treatment again. I had never been wrote up or even had a verbal warning for being late, I missed 2 days since February, and I was fired. .

Pros

Great family-owned company to work for! Very personable and supportive management. There is a strong sense of teamwork, and everyone is willing to help when needed. I have appreciated the flexibility and opportunities to grow professionally.

Cons

The busy season can be demanding at times, so priorities can shift quickly, but that is to be expected in this industry, and they help provide support and make it easy to adapt!

Pros

Training is emmaculate and you meet some great people, at first it seems like Management is there to help you.

Cons

Low pay… starting people at $14 an hour plus commission is insane, and saying with the commission it will make up the rest is also insane, you’re required to call more than 300 people a day, for every day you don’t get a sale they pull you into Zoom which is really discouraging because even if you get 4 sales the day prior they really think you’re doing something differently & poking at you to give them an answer.. manager will blame you for their mistakes or the lack of information they provide but will snap at you for not knowing. You’d think selling lawn care should be easy and laid back but they make you do a bunch of homework for every call you make or take, filling out 3 sheets, if you sell someone you have to go through 18 confirmations with the client, make them state their name & put a card on file… for $14 an hour you’re asking people to do a lot.
