Pros

My experience at weedman was mixed, I started in outdoor sales which included door knocking and later inspection work/sales. I learned many valuable skills about how to sell to a customer and how to ease situations where they might be unhappy(granted that was daily since many customers felt they were paying too much for a mediocre result) and I will certainly be able to use those skills in the future. Their training is not very developed but once you practice and get critiqued enough you begin to pickup selling strategies and key things to say to objections. Overall if you work here you will learn a decent amount about sales but only to the point of how hard you want to work. Plus its a pretty decent pay.

Cons

The problem with working here is the owner himself. Around the company with current and former employees they all know how hot headed he is, and the snap decisions he will make. On numerous occasions I saw him shouting abuse at coworkers having nothing to do with work itself. Personally I had been sat down in his office and given a heated lecture for joking with my manager at 7 in the morning about a running inside joke before a meeting. If you are working inside sales you must be able to sell to people who already said no, because the new prospects and clients are reserved for the first week to the outdoor sales people, giving you limited opportunity. They will and have taken sales from indoor sales people because they retroactively sold something past their week long allotted time to sell to the prospect. This happens frequently and unfortunately the owner cannot find a solution for this and this causes friction in the company, as well as limited job security. To not let this drag on, its a good company to get some experience in, their sales strategy is horribly flawed so commission and job security is minimal at best.

Pros

Great family-owned company to work for! Very personable and supportive management. There is a strong sense of teamwork, and everyone is willing to help when needed. I have appreciated the flexibility and opportunities to grow professionally.

Cons

The busy season can be demanding at times, so priorities can shift quickly, but that is to be expected in this industry, and they help provide support and make it easy to adapt!

Pros

Training is emmaculate and you meet some great people, at first it seems like Management is there to help you.

Cons

Low pay… starting people at $14 an hour plus commission is insane, and saying with the commission it will make up the rest is also insane, you’re required to call more than 300 people a day, for every day you don’t get a sale they pull you into Zoom which is really discouraging because even if you get 4 sales the day prior they really think you’re doing something differently & poking at you to give them an answer.. manager will blame you for their mistakes or the lack of information they provide but will snap at you for not knowing. You’d think selling lawn care should be easy and laid back but they make you do a bunch of homework for every call you make or take, filling out 3 sheets, if you sell someone you have to go through 18 confirmations with the client, make them state their name & put a card on file… for $14 an hour you’re asking people to do a lot.
