Pros
Nobody cares! The admin is so lost in a daze that faculty are canceling classes left and right. Don't feel like teaching? Cancel class! Students don't care and admin doesn't know their ear from a hole in the ground. Easy money unless you actually have pride in yourself and want to make a difference.
Cons
There were several mornings that in a class of 20+ students that NOONE showed up. All of the students (90%) are athletes and only care about playing sports. Paint is literally falling off the walls and has been replaced by scribbles and water stains, the carpets look like they have been though war, the computers are running on antiquated operating systems (One monitor in a classroom was black/white), broken furniture is just stacked along the side of the classrooms (EVERY classroom). Most classrooms do not have heat or air conditioning so it's sweaty in summer and freezing in winter. Did I mention that when I left the whole school was on probation and not expected to be open in 2 years because they give almost every student a scholarship so the salary I was offered before I left was barely 30K/year for 30 credits/year. The highest levels of admin have ZERO respect for faculty and I lost track how many times colleagues in my department were insulted with name calling and broken promises from so-called leaders. (Jackie!) There is noone to turn to because every faculty member is treated the same way so I was told to assign work online and just come in 1-2 days a week as a solution. I could go on and on and on...
