Hey there, it's Jesse - the People Partner for Engineering. I'm sorry to hear that you're not having a great time at Whereby. We appreciate that no workplace is perfect, and hope that you are able to speak to me, your manager, or any member of our exec team about your worries and experiences. Our policies are frequently reviewed based on structured surveys that we send to the company, visibility into promotions and salaries are both included in this statement. We're working on providing levelling frameworks and transparency into compensation so hopefully a lot of these challenges will be cleared up soon. There is definitely a lot going on and processes and policies won't always be so clear but we're all working hard to get it there! Whereby is a rapidly growing company but I do personally believe that we strive to be better as an organization and that we want everyone's voice to be heard. Pros

Fully remote work with brilliant people who you can bounce ideas off of. The culture is super transparent; what you see is what you get. If you enjoy autonomy & creative control, then this is definitely the place for you.

Cons

I thrive in an environment that has some ambiguity in it, but some people prefer full clarity and strict directions. Heads up, that's not going to be a reality in any startup. So again, it really depends on what you're looking for in your career.
