Pros

You’re working on new autonomous passenger vehicle technology, but you’re trading sanity for the opportunity to work on it. One of few aerospace companies offering remote work, but leadership is pushing to RTO slowly but surely. Intelligent and interesting people. Most of them are a pleasure to work with. Some bad apples like everywhere else.

Cons

Extremely poor leadership. Duplication of work, little to no communication, no accountability, and lack of coordination among teams. Everywhere you look there is in-fighting and in some places mismatch of leadership for what they’re leading. Most managers are just trying to survive with their own workload. There is an atmosphere of every person for themselves going around. Eroding benefits and catfish-like tactics with new hires. If you were hired last year (‘24) and promised a 9/80 work schedule. That’s now gone. Higher ups kept one off-Friday per month and said working the remainder was for “better collaboration”. The reality is that the schedule change is nothing more than forced overtime. The CEO was kind enough to remind us that we’re all “exempt employees” when challenged about it in an all-hands. Leadership forcing additional hours plays right into their needs because the organization is severely and laughably understaffed. It’s been going on for years without any end in sight. Good luck taking your “unlimited” PTO, which is a joke. Company is missing major goals and management’s response is to crack the whip harder and demand more out of those of us that remain. Deadlines keep getting moved to the left and last minute big goals popping up. All of which is a clear sign of Boeing pushing unrealistic demands or Wisk leadership making promises it can’t keep. Don’t have to look far to see people burned out. If you’re good at what you do, expect to be rewarded with burnout and an absurd amount of work. Given the amount of work required of each individual, the pay is mediocre. Go look at a job requisition on the careers site and it’s not hard to tell that they’re trying to hire 3 jobs in 1. The CEO is little more than a Boeing puppet/plant. Boeing offers “help” in the form of slowing us down with garbage software/tool/processes and their lack of competence about pretty much everything. To be fair, there are several really great Boeing engineers working with us. At macro level, Boeing had its strike and then moved to lay off 10%. Being a subsidiary people wanted to know if Wisk would be effected. The CEO said headcount would be relatively flat and our funding was in good shape for 2025 funding-wise. Intentionally giving the impression we were solid, but then the company turned around and laid about 6% of staff off right before Christmas ‘24. The company opted to be scummy about the layoff instead of being straight with everyone too. Place feels like you have a job year-to-year at best.

Pros

Everyone is really intelligent. I was very impressed with everyone’s intelligence.

Cons

Management can’t agree on anything and don’t listen to employees’ concerns about the product.
