Pros

Beautifully decorated boutique store, located in a prime area, attracts consumers with its appealing USP. They offered high-quality materials during my time there, though I can't vouch for the current quality.

Cons

When considering work for WNU, it is crucial to establish firm boundaries to protect yourself from potential exploitation. This company may disguise themselves as "start-ups" to take advantage of young workers, particularly recent graduates, offering them low wages and excessive workloads. They often assign multiple roles under one title, resulting in a lack of work-life balance and immense stress. They may also fail to provide the necessary tools for success while expecting employees to meet unrealistic expectations. In addition, they may offer lower salaries or manipulate targets to ensure failure, pressuring employees to work harder without proper compensation. WNU leaders tend to favour their office teams over the store teams, resulting in a lack of benefits and holiday pay, which is uncommon for premium/luxury brands. The company's fragmented structure, heavily relying on freelancers, creates limited opportunities for the sole permanent worker, who often bears the burden of undesirable shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Cons

Although the company is now too large and established to operate like a start-up, it still continues to. This approach appears to justify a “just figure it out” mentality, creating a culture of constant scrambling rather than planned, sustainable progress. There is a complete lack of clear systems and consistent processes, making even basic tasks unnecessarily time-consuming and inefficient. Workflows are disorganised and priorities often change at short notice, resulting in confusion, reworks, immense stress, and heavy workloads. Creative and strategic decisions frequently change due to the founder’s heavy involvement in day to day decisions and the business taking a reactive rather than strategic approach to it's vision. There is little to no communication between teams and no considered initial planning on collaborative projects, resulting in lengthy back and forths and constant reworks. Onboarding is practically non-existent and expectations are often unclear and unrealistic due to shifting priorities and limited managerial guidance, making it hugely challenging for new employees to find their footing. The culture at times feels cliquish and unprofessional, making collaboration unnecessarily difficult, totally insufficient, or altogether absent. Office employees are expected to work through their lunch breaks and regularly stay late (after 6). Access to tools and resources are lacking, yet performance expectations remain high. Junior staff, interns, and recent graduates are often placed in broad, demanding roles, seemingly to cut costs.
